July 27th- Happy 6 months boys!

Today, our boys are six months old.

Six months.

It doesn’t seem possible…. Emotional momma over here….

It’s hard to put into words what this day means.

Six months ago, our lives changed forever.

Six months ago, two tiny little boys entered the world far too soon and immediately began fighting for their lives.

And today… they’re still fighting….

When I was pregnant, I only got to carry them for six months. I would have done anything to keep them safe inside me longer. Instead, I’ve spent the last six months watching them grow from outside the womb instead of inside it.

Next week they’ve officially spent more time in our arms, in incubators, and in hospital beds than they ever spent in my belly. That’s a milestone I never imagined we’d celebrate.

Some days these last six months have felt impossibly long. Other days have flown by.

They’ve been filled with fear, setbacks, victories, tears, hope, prayers, surgeries, milestones, and miracles.

We are so unbelievably proud of these boys.

As always, it scares me to even write this. Every time I celebrate them, I worry tomorrow will be different. This journey has taught me never to take a good day for granted.

But today deserves to be celebrated.

Colton had one of his biggest victories yet, he is officially off every pain and sedation medication! We were told this process often takes months, and today he’s done it. He’s down to his regular medications and vitamins. (Things he can take at home…..)

Watching him become more alert, playful, and simply enjoy being a baby has been one of the greatest gifts. See photo below…

Declan continues to surprise us every single day. Tomorrow he gets another ventilator setting weaned (shhh… don’t tell him 🤫). He’s also almost completely off all of his IV drips. The only reason his central line is staying is so the team has quick access when it’s finally time to remove his breathing tube. Every step forward feels like another answered prayer.

Before I end this post, I want to gently remind everyone that while today is absolutely worth celebrating, our journey is far from over.

Both boys are still in the NICU.

They are still in an intensive care unit. (ICU)

They are both still on life support.

We know it’s exciting to see them making progress, and we love sharing these victories with all of you. But please know that questions about coming home are still incredibly hard for us to answer because we simply don’t know.

When there is a plan, you’ll know. We promise.

For today, we’re just celebrating six months of life.

Six months of resilience.

Six months of miracles.

Happy six months, Colton and Declan.

You have changed our lives forever, and we couldn’t be prouder to be your mom and dad.

Here’s to the next chapter. One milestone at a time. 💙🩵

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Today we celebrate six months of miracles. Thank You for every breath, every milestone, every answered prayer, and every person You have placed in our journey.

Thank You for carrying us on the days we couldn’t stand on our own.

As we celebrate today, we ask that You continue to hold Colton and Declan in Your hands. Strengthen their little bodies, guide every doctor and nurse caring for them, and continue to write a story that only You can write.

Give us patience for the road ahead, peace in the unknown, and hearts that continue to trust You one day at a time.

Thank You for six beautiful months with our boys. We pray that one day we’ll celebrate these milestones together at home.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Colton and momma snuggles. Got to hold him like a real baby. He passed out and I may or may not have cried. The small things people get to enjoy every single day. I had to wait 6 months. (And counting for Declan)
