April 9th

It’s been a few days of consistency, and we are loving every bit of that. After so many ups and downs, steady days feel like such a gift.

Dad was in town for a few days, and the boys and I soaked up every second of it. Those moments together mean everything right now.

Both boys are continuing to eat and make progress. Declan is moving at his own small and steady pace, now up to about 4–5 mLs a day. We are so proud of him for continuing to push forward. Colton is officially at full feeds and is now getting fortifier to help add calories and support his growth.

Declan has been a bit crabby at times, and the team is working to figure out exactly why. We believe a lot of it is due to weaning off his pain medications, which can be an adjustment for his little body.

Colton has been a little uncomfortable too, but for a different reason, he’s learning what a full belly feels like and is working on needing to poop more regularly. It’s all part of the process, and he’s slowly getting the hang of it.

Both boys are still in their incubators. Once Colton gets a bit bigger, we’ll be able to adjust his settings and vents, but he’s still very small for a 37-week baby. Declan will remain incubated until his surgery, as we want to avoid any extra air impacting his stomach.

We do have a date for Declan’s surgery, but we’re waiting on final confirmation. We’ll share more as it gets closer, and we know we’ll be asking for lots of prayers. We are continuing to trust in God’s plan through it all.

Overall, things are steady….and right now, steady is everything. 💙💙
