April 9th - end of day

Today was a big day for both boys — vaccination day.

They each had their shots and were a little crabby afterward, but nothing too out of the ordinary. We’ll be keeping a close eye on them over the next 12 hours to see how they do. One more round tomorrow and then they’ll be done for now.

Colton was extra clingy today and definitely wanted all of mom’s attention. He wasn’t feeling his best after the vaccines, so he made sure I knew it, constantly wanting me to touch him and be close. Of course, I couldn’t say no. It was actually really sweet. On top of that, his tube has a little leak right now, so it makes this squeaky noise… which led to us having full-on “conversations” back and forth. Squeak squeak squeak. It felt like he was talking to me all day.

Declan had a really good day overall. He had a few moments where he got upset and turned bright red like a little tomato, but he settled well. The big highlight for him… he discovered the pacifier! He’s really starting to figure it out, sucking on it and even making little noises. It’s such a fun milestone to watch.

Overall, both boys are doing well. We’re just waiting on a few more days of growth for Declan so he can graduate to a big boy bed (the warmer) and be out of the incubator. Colton is still working through a few more milestones, but he’s getting there.

One day at a time and today was a BUSY one.
