Walked in this morning and the Dr. was already here; lots of information to take in.
Declan – Surgery came by before I arrived. They really want him more stable with his blood counts and antibiotics before moving forward. He needed more platelets today. That’s good because they can give him what he needs, but it also shows his little body is still working hard fighting this infection. The timeline is still 2–3 weeks. They want to be sure he can truly heal and stay stable after the next procedure. Overall, he seems to be doing well considering everything. We’ll have another meeting soon, in about a week to talk through the action plan and options.
Colton – His PDA (the small hole in his heart) is common in babies, especially preemies, so we’re not doing anything about that right now. The priority is clearing this blood infection first. He honestly looks better today. At 11 they’re sending another culture to check things again. We are praying hard for a negative result and that the antibiotics are doing exactly what they’re supposed to. After a full week on antibiotics, we’ll revisit his heart and recheck everything. Sometimes it can even improve with the same antibiotics.
It’s a rollercoaster over here. Highs, lows, waiting, praying. REPEAT
And if we can ask for one thing today, we hope nothing changes. We hope this update stands as is and doesn’t need another one later. (That’s why we are posting it earlier)
Thank you for loving our boys and carrying us through this. 💙 We feel the prayers 💙
