June 1st

Mondays are always busy, but today was one of the first Mondays I would call an overall green day. One of our APNs was talking about how her kids sometimes have a blue day at school when a green day just isn't enough to describe how good things are. And honestly? Today felt like a true blue day.

Let's start with Colton.

He is starting to wake up and move around. Seeing his little eyes peek open is unbelievable. After four months, seeing his whole face without all the tubes hanging from it is something I never imagined. This feels like such a gift.

Today, I also got to do my first suction. I've watched the nurses do it every day for the last four months, and today was the first time I got to help care for him in that way. It felt surreal. I'm so excited for tomorrow when his primary nurses are back and we get to play a little. More than anything, I'm excited for him to be awake and showing us more of his personality.

Now for Declan.

Who is this boy?!

He is feisty! Honestly, he reminds me a lot of Colton a few weeks ago when Declan was recovering from surgery and needed all the attention. Declan is super cute. He opens his eyes, gets all flirty, and makes sure you're holding either his pacifier or his hand at all times.

Today he went down for his lower GI test, and everything went smoothly. We're still waiting to hear the results and what the next steps will be, which I assume we'll talk about tomorrow. My biggest hope is that we'll be able to start feeding him again soon.

The exciting part is that he's continuing to poop. I'm not ready to throw a full poop party yet since he's not currently being fed and some of this could still be from the testing we've been doing. But I do believe things are working in there, and that is incredibly encouraging. I still can't wait for the day we can officially celebrate with that poop party.

Overall, he's doing really well. I truly can't complain about anything, except that they require a lot of attention, which is actually pretty amazing and a lot of fun.

At one point today, we were talking about different generations, and one of the girls said the boys have a lot of rizz. We all cracked up, but honestly, it felt pretty accurate.

So today was a green-day, blue-day, full-of-rizz kind of day.

And after everything these boys have been through, we'll happily take it. 💙🩵 praying for many more days like today.

Colton getting to sit up! No face photos yet… treasuring the moments…

(Thanks for taking this photo Roya 🥰 something I’ll treasure forever!)
