June 6th

Today was a much better day, and for that, we are incredibly grateful.

First, thank you to everyone who has continued to pray for our boys. Please keep those prayers coming. While we still have a few unanswered questions, Colton had a much more encouraging day.

We learned that Colton has a UTI, which may be the cause of some of the issues we've been seeing recently. Early next week, he will have additional testing to make sure there is no infection affecting his brain and to investigate the seizures further. While we are not completely out of the woods yet, today's news gave us some much needed hope.

Colton was still pretty uncomfortable throughout the day, but there were some wonderful milestones. We were able to restart his feeds tonight, and even better, many of the wires and monitoring equipment came off. He got to enjoy a big bath and soak, which was exactly what he needed after the last few difficult days. Seeing him more comfortable was a gift.

Declan continues to focus on healing his belly. His Upper GI study went well, and now we are waiting to hear from surgery regarding the next steps. We remain hopeful that feeds will be starting soon and that he can continue moving forward in his recovery.

Outside of the medical updates, today was a good day for our family. The boys got to spend time with Dad, and Uncle Brad came to visit as well. After the emotional roller coaster of the past several days, it was a much needed day filled with familiar faces, support, and a little bit of normalcy.

Tonight, our hearts feel lighter than they did yesterday. We know there are still hurdles ahead, but today reminded us that progress often comes one step at a time.

Thank you all for walking this journey with us, for your prayers, messages, and encouragement. We feel every bit of it.

One day at a time.
