March 18th

It’s been a heavy day, but through it all we’ve felt carried by the care, attention, and expertise of the doctors and nurses surrounding our boys. We’re leaning hard into trusting them, and we’re so grateful for how closely Colton and Declan are being watched every step of the way.

Colton:

Colton had a tougher night and day. He needed more oxygen and was struggling to keep his levels where they needed to be. The team stepped in quickly by adjusting his sedation and starting paralysis medications…and we saw a big turnaround!!! His oxygen needs improved significantly, coming down from 100% to around 45%.

Today was all about letting him rest, and the team has been very intentional about giving his body exactly what it needs to recover.

The encouraging news is that his heart function is strong. There are some signs of increased pressure in his lungs, but it’s something they’re watching closely and managing with care.

Again, he needs time to REST!

Declan:

Declan is more stable today, and we’re thankful for that steady progress. He’s comfortable on the ventilator and hasn’t needed any blood pressure support.

He’s still NOT eating and on meds for nutrition as his belly continues to be an area of concern. There is still some bloody drainage, and imaging showed a spot they want to keep a close eye on. The plan, guided carefully by his team, is to continue antibiotics and give his body time by holding off on feeds through the weekend.

Overall:

Days like today aren’t easy, but we’re constantly reminded that we are not walking this alone. The team caring for our boys is incredible, and we trust them deeply. We’re taking it moment by moment, resting in the fact that Colton and Declan are exactly where they need to be.
