Today is the day! Prayer warriors, we need you all!

Today is a big day for our sweet Declan. His surgery is scheduled for 9:40am, which means it could begin anytime after that. As we head into this, we’re asking for all the prayers you can send his way.

There are still a lot of unknowns going into surgery. The team will decide whether they’re able to reconnect everything or if Declan will need a surgical ostomy for now. While he has essentially created his own ostomy, and it’s been working incredibly well, it’s not a long-term solution as he continues to grow.

We are praying for the very best outcome, whatever that may look like for his long-term health. If that means coming home with an ostomy bag, we are mentally prepared and will embrace that path. And if the surgeons are able to reconnect everything, we will be beyond grateful. From the very beginning, we were told he may never be able to use his intestines and now we are here, facing the possibility that he can. That alone feels like a miracle.

Declan has already been through so much in his short life. By his second week, he had undergone three surgeries. Since then, he’s been growing, getting stronger, and in his own way, calling the shots. Just two weeks ago, his surgery was postponed because he simply wasn’t ready and now, today is the day.

We are holding onto faith, trusting the doctors, and believing in the power of prayer. We feel so supported by everyone around us, especially the team at Lurie’s, and by all of you who continue to lift our little man up.

God is good. Miracles do happen. Please keep Declan in your prayers today.
