Update 10:50pm

Late Night Update

Declan is still working to stabilize his levels, and it’s been a long night with doctors and nurses in and out of the room. Things have calmed down some, and we’re starting to see movement in the right direction, but we’re not out of the woods yet. He still needs help keeping his blood levels up, so transfusions are ongoing. His platelets are a bit low as well, and it sounds like another round may be coming.

His blood pressure has been a little inconsistent depending on where it’s taken, his lower extremities are reading lower, but we’re getting more reassuring numbers from his arms. We’re also starting to see some puffiness set in. He’s been trying to fight the vent, so they’ve increased his sedation to help him rest. Even so, he’s still responsive in small ways and can hear us, which means so much. Right now, the goal is simple: let his body rest and heal.

Colton, on the other hand, is having a bit of a tough night too. He’s been pretty fussy and uncomfortable. We can’t help but feel like he senses everything going on with his brother and all the activity around him. On top of that, he had some vent adjustments today and started higher-calorie feeds, which could also be contributing. We’re really hoping he’s able to settle in and get some rest tonight, both for himself and to give his brother a little more peace.

God is good, and we continue to see His hand over both of our boys. We’re holding onto that tonight. For now, it’s time for mom and dad to try to get a little rest too.
