Feb 27th- 1 month old!
THE BOYS ARE ONE MONTH OLD TODAY. 💙💙 We made it to one month. The days are so long, but somehow the weeks are short. It’s hard to believe everything that has happened in just 30 days. We are exhausted, emotional, and overwhelmingly grateful. Grateful we got here. Grateful for every single hour with our boys. Grateful for the prayers that have carried us through this first month. Colton had the most attention today. He got a new PICC line, and thankfully one of his favorite

Declan is having a good day. He was pretty active this morning and really showing off his little personality. He had ultrasounds done on his head and his legs, and he did so well through all of it. We’re waiting on results, but sometimes no news is good news. The surgeons stopped by to check his belly and saw some active bowels….. such a positive sign. Keep the prayers coming. We truly feel them. Declan is fighting. Colton is still battling his infection, but he is fighting

Colton Colton is still fighting his infection. They removed his PICC line so his little body can rest and reset. He’s fighting like he always does, but you can tell he’s not quite himself. For his heart, we’re going to wait about a week and then recheck it to see where things stand. He is being so strong, but he really needs the prayers and positive vibes right now. Our sweet boy is pretty sick. Declan Declan is getting more blood since they keep needing to draw labs to check

Walked in this morning and the Dr. was already here; lots of information to take in. Declan – Surgery came by before I arrived. They really want him more stable with his blood counts and antibiotics before moving forward. He needed more platelets today. That’s good because they can give him what he needs, but it also shows his little body is still working hard fighting this infection. The timeline is still 2–3 weeks. They want to be sure he can truly heal and stay stable af

Not a great one. This time, Colton isn’t doing so well. When the boys were born, both had a small hole in their hearts, something common in preemies that usually closes on its own. It’s called a PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus). Colton’s has not. His is actually larger. Our entire team of doctors are working together to come up with a plan. We’ve been told this is common in preemies and often responds well to medication, which is reassuring. But it can also impact his gut and

Today was a fairly steady day for our boys. Not much has changed since yesterday, which we are thankful for. Colton seems extra exhausted with everything going on. His little body has been through a lot. Several of his medications have been adjusted, so he’s learning new ways to breathe with less support. We truly think he just needs some good, deep rest to adjust and grow stronger. Declan spent most of the day resting. The surgeon stopped in to take a look and didn’t have mu

Posted a day late. Yesterday (Feb 21st) was a good day, the kind where we exhale a little deeper. Colton had a few ups and downs in the morning. He’s still learning how to breathe on his own and remember not to hold his breath (these tiny preemie lessons feel so big sometimes). It can be scary in the moment, but he keeps working through it. He’s figuring it out in his own time, and we’re so proud of him for that. Every small step is still a step forward. We had a few sweet vi

We had a very rough start. Declan had a hard night that had everyone worried; nurses, doctors, even the surgeons. He was having severe episodes where he stopped breathing. His belly became very distended again, putting even more pressure on his tiny lungs. At one point, we were told there may be no coming back from this… and that another surgery is not an option right now. Pray for a miracle. There were a lot of prayers. A lot of hand-holding. And more mommy tears than anyone

Today was a good day for the boys. We are almost scared to say that out loud… but we’re thankful. We had two amazing nurses today so mom felt comfortable enough to go home for a few hours. She got to see her first babies, the fur babies (puppies) and pack up a few more things for the room. It felt strange & hard to leave, but also good to breathe for a minute knowing they were in such good hands. Overall, things went smoothly today. Declan has still been a little up and down

Declan had a rough start to his day. His heart rate and oxygen kept dipping as he’s learning how to breathe on his own. Sometimes he just forgets, which the doctors say is typical for his preemie age. That’s both reassuring and terrifying for mom and dad at the same time. The good news is he is growing and his coloring continues to improve. He’s still very swollen, but the swelling is shifting, and as he continues to pee more, we’re hopeful it will keep going down. He is abso

Declan had a really good night. He’s already on lower settings for his lungs, which is such a huge step forward. Even better, he has started peeing a lot, which tells us his kidneys are doing their job. That alone feels like a win. He is still very puffy and swollen from all the medications, but we are slowly seeing improvement. From the outside, his belly is looking a little better. We are continuing to pray hard that his colon and intestines still have life and will grow an

A lot has happened in the last 24 hours. Colton is resting, and his lungs are continuing to clear and grow stronger. He’s officially off one of his machines and is on lower settings on the oscillator. (Shhhh… don’t tell him the less he knows, the better. He likes to fight it.) He’s still on steroids and a few other medications to support his growth and healing. We are so incredibly proud of him and the quiet strength he shows every day. Declan has had some of the biggest chan

Colton had a really great night and day. He pooped (huge win!), is peeing a ton, and his coloring looks so good. He’s slowly been weaning down from his high oxygen levels, and if he keeps trending this way, we’re hoping to hit another big milestone in the next few days. We’re so proud of him and thankful for the progress. Declan is still in a tougher spot and needs all the prayers and support right now. He’s very swollen from the medications and from having to stay on his bac

Last night both boys did great. 🙏 Both are peeing, and we’re seeing their kidneys working strong. Colton is off some of his pain meds and is being wiggly again! He started steroids for his lungs and will begin getting weaned down on some of his ventilator settings, let’s go!!! He’s been on them since day 2, so this feels like a big step forward. Declan is fighting hard and showing just how brave he is. His heart rate and blood pressure are in line with a healthy little boy.

Declan has had two procedures this week, one early Tuesday morning at 4am and another on Thursday at 2pm. His little body has been through so much in such a short time. Right now, things are very serious. We had a difficult conversation with his doctors about life-saving measures and what the coming weeks could look like. They are concerned about whether he will make it the next 3–4 weeks to be able to go back in and see what is happening inside his gut. Every hour can change
